Being in the comfort zone is a psychological state of feeling at ease and not being tested. All want to feel at ease and comfortable, in control of life and knowing what to expect. You don’t engage in new experiences or take on challenges in that state of mind and that has a negative effect on your self image, confidence & assertiveness. There is a massive risk in not taking risks. You risk your potential.
Restraint:
We are wired for comfort and the reason we remain in it is because we want to avoid feelings of anxiety, stress, pain, uncertainty and fear. Uncertainty equals danger; that’s what our internal defence mechanism tells us. So we want to feel safe and that is encouraged when we live through comfort, familiarity, knowing what to expect and when things are predictable. Life is unpredictable, so live your life without constraint.
Transitioning:
It takes willpower to get out of your comfort zone. When you push through the initial fear, you step into your potential. The more you challenge fear and the comfort zone, you increase self confidence, inner strength, increased resilience and self-actualisation. You become everything you’re capable of becoming.
Conclusion:
You know within yourself that you’re capable of more. Challenge your boundaries and step out into your potential. Only by crossing the bridge of certainty & familiarity can you learn & grow.
In what way are you going to challenge yourself today ?
How will you stretch beyond your comfort zone ?

Great piece. Today I’ll challenge myself by putting the simplest yet scariest task at the top of my list and get it done. Then I’m going for a walk so that I don’t freak out about it.
